His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, High Commissioner of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Accra, while speaking as one of the guest speakers at this year’s Executive Business and Development Summit, described the theme From Challenge to Change: Leveraging Entrepreneurship, Innovation and AI for Sustainable Development, as timely in the promotion of Entrepreneurship and Artificial Intelligence, proposed four priority areas for Commonwealth nations.
He was speaking at the British Council‘s Office in Accra, Ghana.
The areas he said include Investment in digital skills, strengthening innovation ecosystems, ensuring inclusivity, and deepening commonwealth cooperation.
According to him, innovation and artificial intelligence are not just tools for growth but great instruments of leadership and progress.
With Sierra Leone not being a technology powerhouse at the moment, H.E. Kaisamba spoke on the country’s ability to choose to lead differently when it comes to such areas, highlighting the establishment of an Innovation Office in the Presidency.
“Our efforts from digital health pilots and e-learning platforms to youth-led fintech and agriculture start-ups show that embracing innovation with courage makes change possible,” he added, noting that AI, though often feared, must be seen as a partner and not a threat.
H.E. Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba concluded by urging the distinguished Speakers, guests, and participants to make meaningful contributions and inputs, so that the summit would be remembered as the moment when challenges are turned into change and innovation leads to inclusive prosperity.
Other speakers and partners delivered speeches of encouragement to all, especially young entrepreneurs, on how to handle challenges, manage family life and business, and work towards achieving superb growth in their businesses.
Some of these speakers included Prof. Emeritus Stephen Adei, first Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Greg Bavinton, Executive Director of DDQIC, Queen's University (Canada), and Dr. Daniel McKorley, Founder and Executive Chairman, McDan Group.
