The Australian High Commissioner -Designate to Ghana, Her Excellency Keara Shaw, who is also accredited to Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, and Senegal, has, on Friday 14th August, made a courtesy visit to the High Commissioner, H.E. Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, Sierra Leone’s Envoy in Accra, Ghana.
As the newly appointed High Commissioner of Australia, H.E. Shaw expressed joy at meeting her colleague, the Head of Mission for Sierra Leone, one of the countries to which she is accredited.
She said Sierra Leone and Australia have enjoyed strong bilateral ties over the years, and as the new envoy in Ghana, she intends to work with H.E. Kaisamba to strengthen those ties further.
H.E. Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, in his response, welcomed H.E. Shaw to the High Commission of Sierra Leone and pledged his mission’s support in making her tour of duty in Ghana and Sierra Leone remarkable.
He spoke about the support Sierra Leone had received from the Australian government over the years and expressed hope for more assistance in key areas such as education and security.
High Commissioner Kaisamba mentioned the cordial relationship he had with the former High Commissioner Berenice Owen-Jones and promised a similar one.
“Once your letters of credence are presented in Sierra Leone, I assure you we will both hit the ground running,” H.E Kaisamba said.
Both heads of Mission concluded by vowing to work well in the interests of the citizens of both Australia and Sierra Leone.
Her Excellency Keara Shaw, the High Commissioner-designate of Australia to Ghana, is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade who has previously served in diplomatic postings in Indonesia and Zimbabwe.
