Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner Resident in Accra, Ghana, Presents Letters of Credence in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, Sierra Leone’s non-resident Ambassador to Burkina Faso, on Thursday, 26th June 2025, presented his Letters of Credence to Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Republic of Burkina Faso, at his Presidential Palace in Koulouba, Ouagadougou.

Presenting the credentials, which include a Letter of Recall of his predecessor and his Letter of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Captain Traoré, the Ambassador-designate, Mr. Kaisamba began by extending heartfelt greetings from President Julius Maada Bio, his government and the People of Sierra Leone to President Traore, the Government and People of the Republic of Burkina Faso.

According to HE. Kaisamba, his presentation was a celebration of the unending ties between both countries, whose histories were made rich in resilience, with people hardened by sacrifice, and with leaders who are always determined to plan a path to dignity, change, and true self-fortitude of an African.

HE. Kaisamba, in addition, said Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso had come a long way, with both nations working earnestly to deepen diplomatic ties through cooperation in diverse areas.

He went further to explain that, now that he had presented the letters, and thus given the green light to work or undertake activities within Burkina Faso, he pledged to commit himself to serve as Sierra Leone’s representative in the country by working with the respective MDAs of Burkina Faso and other parties involved in ensuring mutual engagements that would yield profound results for citizens of both countries.

Responding, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, first congratulated President Julius Maada Bio on his election as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), describing the appointment as a timely choice for the West African region.

The Head of State expressed hope and belief in President Bio’s leadership, as he was optimistic that with him at the helm of affairs for ECOWAS, solutions to key challenges would be proffered.

Welcoming HE. Kaisamba officially to Burkina Faso, Captain Traoré, also congratulated him and described the relationship that has existed between Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso as a great one that only needs to be further deepened and strengthened.

The President, on behalf of his Government and the People of Burkina Faso, promised to provide an enabling environment for Ambassador Kaisamba to carry out his role as Sierra Leone’s representative.

As a determined leader, he went on to describe Africa as a continent destined for greatness.

According to him, the African continent and its inhabitants must work together to overcome challenges in fields such as agriculture, peace, security, and energy.

For that day, a total of eight Ambassadors presented Letters of Credence to President Ibrahim Traore, of which some were resident in Ouagadougou. They were from India, Türkiye, Cuba, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, Luxembourg, and Bangladesh.

To grace this ceremony, Ambassador Kaisamba was accompanied by Mr. Aiah Edwin Mbawa, Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery, Ms. Princetta Williams, Information Attaché, and Mr. Abraham Wetiouga KOUTIANGBA, Sierra Leone’s Honorary Consul in Burkina Faso.
