Overview Of Sierra Leone High Commission

The Sierra Leone High Commission was reopened in 2000, and it is one of 91 foreign representations in Ghana, and one of 84 foreign representations in Accra. The Commission in Accra is one of 56 Sierra Leonean diplomatic and consular representations abroad. It is situated at Plot 15, Fourth Circular Road, Cantonment, Accra, Ghana.

The Sierra Leone High Commission in Ghana comprises 3 diplomatic and 17 local staff. It offers consular services to non-Sierra Leoneans who require visas to travel to Sierra Leone as well as facilitates individuals and businesses interested in investing in Sierra Leone. Furthermore, it facilitates Sierra Leoneans requiring services from both foreign missions in Ghana and the Government of the Republic of Ghana.

The High Commission has a medical wing that handles ALL Sierra Leoneans coming to Ghana for medical tours including liaising with medical experts and assisting the patients till they fully recuperate and return home. Protocol services (including facilitating meetings, transit services and general protocol courtesies) are also accorded dignitaries from Sierra Leone by the High Commission. Other support to Sierra Leoneans in Ghana are provided on a case by case basis as and when required.

Administratively, the High Commission deals with the general management of the mission including writing note verbale communicating specific messages to Ghana’s Foreign Ministry, all diplomatic missions in Ghana as well as relaying messages to and from embassies and high commissions resident in Ghana and accredited to Sierra Leone.
