The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Friday, 22nd August, held its 2025 joint graduation ceremony at the Hamidu hall at the College.
This, according to the administration, marks the fruitful accomplishment of the Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 46 and its associated postgraduate programs.
97 officers graduated from SCSC 46, of which 67 officers are from the Ghana Armed Forces and 30 allied officers from fifteen (15) African countries.
In addition, thirty-six (36) students graduated with a Master of Science in Defence and International Politics, while seven received a Master of Science in Defence and Security Studies, emphasizing the College’s upward academic relevance to national and regional security governance.
Among the 30 allied officers from 15 African countries was Sierra Leone’s Major Saidu Dinieh Kargbo (SL1083-RSLAF), who attended the Senior Command and Staff Course.
High Commissioner of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Ghana, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba attended the graduation ceremony as a show of support to the Military Personnel from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, Major Saidu Dinieh Kargbo (SL1083-RSLAF).
He congratulated and commended him for his determination during the course and urged him to put into practice what he had learnt during the course period.
The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in her address, applauded the graduands for their flexibility and commitment throughout the intensive academic and professional training.
The VP highlighted the prevailing global and regional security landscape, characterized by terrorism, climate change, and shifting alliances, stressing that these challenges demanded adaptability, strategic foresight, and professional excellence.
She urged the graduands to leverage the knowledge acquired to advance peace, stability, and development across the African Continent.
Acting Commandant of the College, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Jackson Wonje, in his report, noted that the course provided rigorous training in command, staff, and leadership duties, with a strong emphasis on joint, combined, and multi-agency operations.
Brig Gen Wonje also highlighted the importance of international partnerships with allied colleges and institutions, as well as infrastructural upgrades supported by the Ghana Education Trust Fund, aimed at transforming GAFCSC into a modern, technology-driven Centre of Excellence.
The course he said commenced on 13th September 2024, and the personnel did well in their different disciplines, which enabled them to graduate.
Brig Gen Wonje urged all graduands to put into practice what they have learnt during the period of the course, while wishing them well on their return to their country, families, and loved ones.
