The Executive of the Sierra Leonean Association in Togo, led by its President, Alpha Amadu Bah, recently visited High Commissioner Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba at the Chancery in Accra, Ghana.
The visit, according to the Vice President, Rev. Christian Massaquoi, was to congratulate and update the High Commissioner on the current status of the union, activities that they have undertaken since its formation, discuss the challenges they face, and how they can be surmounted.
He said that as an Association and with the current leadership, they continue to engage fellow Sierra Leoneans and back them in diverse ways with the support that they receive from the High Commission in Accra.
Rev. Massaquoi recounted the support they have always enjoyed from the Sierra Leone high commission with hopes of enjoying the same under the leadership of its new head, His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba.
The President of the association Alpha Amadu Bah appreciated the High Commissioner for his time given to them despite his busy schedule and called on him to always remember the Sierra Leoneans in Togo.
Bah added that one big call they are making on the government of Sierra Leone through its high commission in Ghana is for the appointment of an Honorary Consul of Sierra Leone in Lomé, Togo
Other executive members who formed part of the visiting team pleaded with H.E. Kaisamba to look into it and make it a reality, as they believe this will ease the pressure on the High Commission.
High Commissioner Mohamed Kaisamba, in his response, expressed delight in having them around and promised to work with the Association while appreciating them for the support they have been rendering to their fellow Sierra Leoneans in Togo.
He urged them to remain law-abiding and to continue communicating with the High Commission as and when necessary, adding that with unity, there’s always strength.
H.E. Kaisamba promised to engage the government, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the issue of the appointment of an honorary consul and cautioned them to always represent the Green, White, and Blue Flag of Sierra Leone positively.
