A thanksgiving service in commemoration of Sierra Leone’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary, which is on 27th April, has been held at the New Harvest Global Ministries in Ghana.
The service brought together Sierra Leonean Clergy, officials of the Sierra Leone High Commission led by its Head of Chancery, Joseph Spencer Thornton together with a congregation both Sierra Leoneans and Ghanaians, who spent time thanking God for having brought the country this far.
During his exhortation from Nehemiah 1:4-6, Rev Paul Sahr Sayoh, Country Director of the New Harvest Global Ministries, congratulated every Sierra Leonean on celebrating 64 years since independence.
He urged people to be proud of their countries and always think to give back positively while praying for the leaders always as instructed in the Bible.
Rev Sayoh cited Nehemiah’s action when he learnt of the affliction and reproach on Jerusalem, which was to cry to God asking for mercy.
He encouraged everyone to be hopeful through prayers and supplications for and on behalf of Sierra Leone always.
Making a statement on behalf of the High Commissioner, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, the Head of Chancery, Joseph Spencer Thornton, thanked the pastors and Sierra Leoneans who were in attendance for their time in God’s presence to praise God and intercede for Sierra Leone.
He pleaded with all to support President Julius Maada Bio’s call for love and unity for the growth and development of Sierra Leone.
Thornton further shared a message of togetherness from the High Commissioner pledging his support to Sierra Leoneans in Ghana at all times while urging that they should remain peaceful.
Cutting of an Independence anniversary cake with prayer for Sierra Leone using the country’s flag as a point of contact, led by Pastor Desmond Yarjah, formed part of the Thanksgiving service
