With 20MWp Solar to be installed… Energy investors assured
President Bio assures Investors of a conducive environment.
His Excellency President, Dr Julius Maada Bio has assured Investors of a stable environment for business in Sierra Leone.
The president made this statement while addressing a team of Energy investors from Shezen Energy/ Sunon Asgoli Power Ghana Limited, led by the Sierra Leone High Commissioner to Accra Ghana, at State House in Freetown.
According to him, there are still challenges in the energy sector, even though the government is trying its best in ensuring sustained solutions to electricity access in the country.
President Bio said it is difficult to make progress with development without reliable energy, thus the reason his government continues to look out for private sector partners who can bring the right needs that can provide the required energy to support all development projects.
Head of the visiting team from Accra Ghana, High Commissioner Francess Virginia Anderson commended the President for all he has been doing in the country and informed him that the visit of the investors was in line with the call made by President Julius Maada Bio during the orientation ceremony organized for new Head of missions, before taking up their roles in different countries.
She furthered that the investors desire to invest in Sierra Leone was borne out of an investment seminar organized in Accra, Ghana just five months after she assumed office as Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Ghana.
This, she said is a proof that the Accra Mission is working in line with the President’s Vision of rebranding Sierra Leone and making sure the new direction agenda succeeds.
Speaking on behalf of the officials from Shezen Energy/ Sunon Asgoli Power Ghana Limited, Togbe Afede XIV, a development expert and Director of Sunon Asogli, expressed appreciation over the willingness of the President and his government to allow them to invest in Sierra Leone, thereby supporting the development process in the country.
He said as a company they are aware of the importance of power in the development of an economy and the need for Sierra Leone to expand its capacity.
The Company he said remains part of the development of the energy sector in Ghana and so they are happy to share such experience in Sierra Leone to support the Government and its people.
The team of Investors also visited the Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa who expressed his willingness and that of his ministry to supporting them in lighting up the country.
It is believed that when such a project is completed, Sierra Leone’s Energy challenges will be a thing of the past.
